NORMANTON CHURCH WEDDING CEREMONY

Normanton Church and Rutland Golf Course Wedding Photographer

Jutting out into the waters of Rutland Water on the pretty banks of Normanton, Normanton Church is a spectacular setting for a wedding. Pale rocks and green plants skirt the shores of this beautiful lakeside venue, the perfect complement to the white facade of Normanton Church against the blue lake- it looks almost too good to be true.

It is impossible not to be wowed by this magnificent venue. Once St. Matthews church, Normanton Church is now a museum and treasured local landmark that charts the history of Rutland Water. This former parish church was saved from demolition by outraged locals when the area was cleared for development.

Normanton is now a striking sight that seems to almost float on water, like something from a fairytale, when Rutland Lake is full. It is an incredible space and a real treat for a Normanton Church wedding photographer.

Just off the A606, not far from the A1 and A43, Normanton Church is easy to get to from Leicester, Peterborough, Corby and Grantham. Close to the Rutland Water Golf Club, it is a stunning, unexpected oasis in the midst of Rutland.

Spectacular Rutland Wedding Venue

The church’s grand exterior includes a dazzling tower, archways, columns and other ornate architectural details. Inside, Normanton church is equally spectacular with a really high, decorated vaulted ceiling, huge chandeliers, archways in every direction, enormous windows and other pretty features.

Flooded with light and decorated in white, Normanton delivers unbelievable shots for a Normanton wedding photographer at every turn.

The ceremony is conducted by a registrar because the church was deconsecrated as part of the work to save the site. However, the venue has all the charm and atmosphere of a church and its splendour is guaranteed to make you quickly forget that it is now classed as a museum.

This is a huge space, complete with candles and beautiful lakeside views – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more romantic location for a ceremony than this. You can even take a boat ride on the lake after the ceremony if you choose. For a wedding photographer, the indoor and outdoor shots here are epic and completely unique.
